This excerpt is from the chapter, The "Christian" Cult: The Modern Pharisees.

There is a growing trend among "Christian" churches to have their members "voluntarily" sign a non-legally binding document giving away their God-given freedom of thinking for themselves, making their own decision, and freedom to run their own lives.

What is this document of bondage and servitude? It is merely a statement that you and your family will not shop at certain stores, establishments, places of business, eat at specific restaurants and fast food chains, and not go to certain amusement theme parks or even the movies. Why do they do this? It is because they claim all of these places violate the Word of God and support evil in one way or the other.

But this is also full of hypocrisy and double standards. For example those who sign this statement are not allowed to go to certain amusement parks, and yet it is okay for their members to buy movies that are produced and sold by the very same company. Well if going to the amusement park is contributing to the evil that this company supports, then logically would not buying a movie from this company also be contributing to the same thing?

It is interesting to note that those in these churches that are in the "inside crowd" are often seen violating the very statements all of them are pushed into "voluntarily" signing. They will be seen going into or out of movie theaters, seen shopping at the places they are to avoid, and even go to the amusement parks that they swore not to go to. This double standard shows, that this is not about following the Word of God or helping their members to avoid evil, but about control and running the lives of their members.

Ephesians 4-6 clearly explains the conduct and duty of the Church. Nowhere in it does it say the Church has the right or responsibility to take away the God-given rights and freedoms of the individual. No where in it does it say the Church can take control of a person's life or tell them where they may or may not go. No where in it does it say the Church is to use fear and intimidation or pressure to control its members. All of these practices are in violation of the Bible and Biblical teachings.

These churches are guilty of violating the Word of God and putting their members back into bondage, the very thing Christ came to set us free from.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Romans 8:15

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Galatians 5:1

Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Acts 15:10

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7

No church, absolutely no church, or religious organization has the right or authority to have their member "voluntarily" sign a statement that essentially puts them back into bondage. No church is to have the power to control the lives of their members and tell them where they may or may not go.

It is NOT the Church's place to tell you how to run your life or make your decisions for you. It is NOT the Church's place to use fear and intimidation of "keep you in line."

All of these churches are guilty of ignoring the Word of God and using cult-like tactics as well as fear and intimidation to control their members and run their lives for them. As the above scriptures clearly show, this is NOT what the Word of God is about nor is it what the true Christian Church is supposed to be doing or even tolerating. These churches have adopted non-Biblical teachings and practices, and as such should be avoided by all real Christians who are born-again in the Blood of Christ!

Lastly here is a verse from the Bible that clearly describes these churches that have chosen to violate the Word of God and use these non-Biblical teachings and practices:

These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
2 Peter 2:17
