It’s that time of year again. Everyone is rushing around trying to buy the biggest and best present for someone. Wrapping paper, tinsel, Christmas trees, among many other things, that have absolutely nothing to do with the real meaning of Christmas. So many people get caught up in all of it and lose sight of what Christmas is all about.
On Christmas morning, while most people are excitedly opening their presents, there are others for whom that day is not as joyful. They are not opening presents, but instead have a razor blade and are opening their wrists. They are fed up and tired of being alone and feeling lonely all of the time. They are tired of not fitting in or being like everyone else. They feel nothing but loneliness and darkness all around them with no hope of anything ever turning better for them.
This is the result of the world turning away from God and His Son Jesus Christ. The world wants everyone to turn from Christ and the ways of God and be lost in darkness and sin, making them believe there is no hope for salvation.
To those who seek safety and salvation, the world offers false hopes, lies, and empty promises. The world tells us that we can obtain salvation on our own without Christ. But that is impossible for the Bible (the only inspired Word of God) tells us that, referring to Christ:
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
(Acts 4:12)
The world and its false religions want us to believe that we can “earn” salvation by doing good works and deeds. This is why so many are lost in the darkness and are so desperate. They need Christ. They need to know the truth and not follow after the lies that the world promises.
Jesus’ own Words teaches us “ ….I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
What the world has and teaches is contrary to what the Word of God teaches us:
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
(Galatians 2:16)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
(Ephesians 2:8-9)
The gift of eternal life and salvation is free for the asking, but we MUST ask for it in all sincerity and honesty, and turn against the ways of the world and open out hearts to Christ. Christ tells us:
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
(Revelation 3:20)
Share the free Gift of Christ with those who are lost and lonely in the darkness of this world, so on Christmas morning, instead of opening their wrists they will open the gift of Christ through faith and receive eternal life and salvation.
