Another Christmas season is upon us, and so is the age-old attempt to remove all signs of Christ and His teachings from is. Stores started selling Christmas decorations back in the beginning of October. It seems each year they start earlier and earlier. I saw a television commercial for one store that was telling the viewer to buy a present for Aunt Jane and by one for yourself and buy one for Uncle Jon and by another for yourself. It seems it has gone from the joy of giving and doing unto others, into a time for getting more and, "give me, give me." This commercialization of Christmas has all but removed all traces of what the season is about. It has becomes a season of buying more and more and spending more than you can afford.

One national television station decided to air the unedited version of the carton "A Charlie Brown Christmas." A few days before it was to air an atheists group tried suing the television network and have the cartoon stopped form airing. Well the carton aired as scheduled. Why would they want to stop a children's cartoon? Because they deemed it as being unconstitutional. How you may ask? Because in the cartoon is shows prayer in a public school and the true and real teaching of what Christmas is all about. They actually quoted the accurate story of the birth of Christ from Luke 2. As I said not only did they air the program, but about a week and a half ago they aired it again. But this shows how those who oppose God, His Son Jesus Christ, and the true meaning of Christmas, will go to silence the truth.

We see many things used throughout the year, and especially at this time, to silence the massage God has for us to hear. We see pictures of Christmas trees beautifully decorated. We see houses covered with Christmas decoration and thousands of light. But very few of them actually have any decorations pertaining to the birth of Christ. It is all Santa Caluses, snowmen, elves, and reindeer.

Under the tree we see beautifully wrapped presents in all sizes and shapes and colors. The stockings are all hung on the mantle above the fireplace. All bright and clean with the names of their owners carefully written in clear and shinning glitter. All are filled to overflowing. All that is but one. All the way down on the end is a stocking hanging that is quite unlike the others. It is old and faded. It is covered with dust and is moth eaten. The glitter showing the name has mostly fallen off, and you can barely make out the name on it. The name of Jesus Christ!

In this hustle and bustle of buying things for ourselves and for others, and our rush to decorate our houses better and more beautiful that our neighbors, almost everyone has forgotten all about Christ. They have rejected the most perfect and everlasting gift of all, the gift from God, the gift of salvation through Christ.

As believers in the one and only true God and in His Son Jesus Christ, and partakers of the salvation we have received through faith in Jesus Christ, we are to spread the true meaning of Christmas with the world. No matter what the world says or does, we are under command of Christ to "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matthew 28:19).

The world seems to be to be on the edge of eternal darkness, never before in its history has it needed to hear the words and teachings of Christ as it does right now. Spread the Good Word with those around you. Let them know of the one and only perfect and eternal gift that comes from God alone.

So let's get out there and make a difference in how the world views this special day. Let's share with them the free gift that God has shared with them. Let's do what we can to provide a light to those lost in the darkness of the world.
