THE RAINBOW OF GOD

By Aaron Walden

When rain had stopped and flood was o'er,
And all were off the ark,
Old Noah made a sacrifice
Of thanks, though things looked stark.

But God did make a covenant,
A deluge ne'er to bring;
That water should not rob the earth
Of ev'ry living thing.

He placed the rainbow on the cloud
To be a sacred sign
Of His eternal covenant,
A blessed truth divine.

Red, orange, yellow, green, and blue,
Indigo, violet,
These seven colors signify
The Christian Covenant.

The color red speaks of His blood,
A treasure so sublime,
The precious blood of covenant,
Transcending earthly time.

The orange speaks of bearing fruit
The fruit of godly life,
Proceeding from a walk with Him,
That transcends human strife.

And yellow speaks of heaven's light,
That we are called to shine,
Upon the darkness of the night,
Reflecting the Divine.

And green speaks of the need for growth,
For all who grafted be,
As branches in God's living vine,
Our Savior's greenery.

The color blue speaks of the sky,
The heavens up above,
Where we must keep our eye fixed,
While walking in His love.

The color indigo bespeaks
Of denim working clothes,
For God has called us all to live
As workmen that He chose.

The royal color violet
Says I'm a kingdom heir
With Him I'll reign eternally
In Glory land so fair.
