1. BAPTISM INTO THE HOLY SPIRIT

THIS IS THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER TO ALL BELIEVERS, AND IS AN EXPERIENCE DISTINCT FROM AND SUBSEQUENT TO SALVATION. THE MANIFESTATION OF SPEAKING WITH OTHER TONGUES IS THE COMMON BIBLICAL PATTERN. WE ARE COMMANDED TO SEEK THIS ENDUEMENT OF POWER FROM HIGH FOR SERVICE.

AFTER SALVATION, THERE ARE MORE, SEPARATE EXPERIENCES, NOT A "PACKAGE DEAL."

(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

THE SAMARITAN BELIEVERS APPARENTLY DID SOMETHING THAT ARRESTED THE ATTENTION OF SIMON, A SEEKER AFTER THE SUPERNATURAL

See Acts 8:5-25

Acts 19:6

PAUL WISHED THAT ALL SPOKE WITH TONGUES AND THE THINGS HE WROTE ARE THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD

I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying...If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write are the commandments of the Lord.

And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves; For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing set before him? And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many has he needeth. And I say unto you, Ask and it shall be given you: seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Romans 12:6-8

SIGNS THAT FOLLOW BELIEVERS: CASTING OUT DEVILS, SPEAKING WITH NEW TONGUES, ACCIDENTIALLY TAKING UP SERPENTS OR DRINKING DEADLY THINGS, LAYING HANDS ON THE SICK FOR RECOVERY

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then, after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God gave the increase.
